San Martin Bakery and Restaurant, nestled in the heart of Dallas on McKinney Avenue, offers a vibrant and authentic taste of Guatemalan and Central American cuisine in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. This charming spot blends the best of a bakery, cafe, and diner, making it an exceptional destination for breakfast, brunch, and lunch with a distinctive cultural twist.
Step inside and you are greeted by the comforting aromas of freshly baked pastries and the subtle hint of anise, a signature of traditional Guatemalan baking. The bakery showcases an enticing display of treats like buttery croissants, conchas with crisp shells, soft and flavorful pan dulce, and rich rellenitos—all handcrafted with genuine care. Each bite carries the warmth of home-cooked authenticity, inviting you to savor something truly special beyond the usual breakfast fare.
The menu itself is a carefully curated celebration of fresh, vibrant flavors and diverse textures. Start your morning with a Plateful of the Farmers Breakfast featuring eggs cooked to perfection alongside hearty sides, or indulge in the Pan De Muerto French Toast—a creative fusion that masterfully marries cultural tradition with classic brunch appeal. The Chilaquiles Con Huevos Divorciados offers a bright, zesty burst of flavor, while the Eggs Benedict and Avocado Toast provide familiar comforts elevated with a refined touch.
For those who prefer lighter yet flavor-packed options, the Santa Fe Salad and Breakfast Tacos deliver fresh ingredients with an authentic Central American flair. Don’t miss the specialty beverages either—the Spanish Latte, Horchata, and caramel-kissed Cappuccino offer luxurious warmth that perfectly complement the sweet and savory dishes. And if you're here for lunch, the homemade Caldo de Pollo, Guatemalan style, warms the soul with its rich chicken broth, tender shredded chicken, and fresh accompaniments like avocado and lime. The Frijoles al Albañil—a black bean soup topped with panela cheese and crispy tortilla strips—is a comforting staple that evokes the home kitchen.
Lunch also brings delightful sandwiches that tea lovers and food enthusiasts rave about: the Chicken Salad Croissant embodies creamy indulgence wrapped in a buttery, freshly baked croissant, while the Shuco hot dog, served on traditional grilled bread with guacamole and cabbage salad, is an unmistakably local favorite that you shouldn’t miss. Appetizers like Tostadas with tomato salsa and guacamole, or the elegant Beef and Avocado Carpaccio drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and fresh lime, are perfect to share and savor.

San Martín is an amazing place with a great vibe. I went in the morning and even saw Santa Claus there, which made the experience unforgettable. The service was excellent super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The food was delicious, fresh, and clearly made with care, making the whole visit feel special. David the server was very kind I liked it so much that I came back in the afternoon, and the restaurant looked completely different in the best way. It was beautifully lit and had such a warm, inviting atmosphere. San Martín has incredible food, outstanding service, and a really nice environment. I left very satisfied and would absolutely recommend it. Its bread is delicious
Good food options for breakfast. Service was great, staff is friendly. The naranjada and Spanish latte were so good! Great selection at the bakery. There is complimentary valet parking for dine in and self parking for a quick bakery run. I would like to go back for lunch/dinner menu.
This Guatemalan bakery does not mess around. The moment you walk in, the smell hits first—warm sugar, toasted flour, and that faint whisper of anise that signals serious Central American baking. The display case is crowded in the best way: conchas with crisp shells, soft pan dulce that actually tastes like something, and rellenitos that are rich without turning greasy. Nothing here feels mass-produced or rushed. Pair any pastry with a cup of cortado or espresso. Quick bites included flatbread pizza (pink space, arugula, mushrooms, red onion, & mozzarella); spinach & beef empanadas; Spanish lasagna. All yummy and fresh.
We came for brunch on Sunday and it was PACKED! Should have known Parking was nuts and valet was backed up, but thankfully we found a free spot in the street a couple of blocks away. We requested to sit on the patio and were told the wait would be 35 minutes, even though we had walked right by the patio and there were 2 empty tables. I was told that they couldn’t seat us b/c there were other people ahead of us. Understandable. We browsed the bakery while we waited, and our mouths were watering. I don’t think we waited the full 35 minutes, but we were seated at one of the empty tables we had seen earlier. There seemed to be a little confusion about who our server was because we were approached by two different ones. Service was a little slow but again, it was crazy busy inside - very loud inside the restaurant. Patio was pretty peaceful. Food was mid - we had egg white veggie omelette, berry French toast, avocado toast, and a side of pupusas with coleslaw (they looked very interesting on the menu). BTW the menu is extensive - like 35 pages! But colorful pictures of every single dish, which was very helpful in deciding. Overall a good vibe, so-so food, and a little slow on the service.
When we walked in we were greeted with a warm smile and our server Jimena was very kind and patient the atmosphere was warm and friendly, I hope you all experience what me and my family did. Food was great and warm. I know you will enjoy this place as much as I did.
The food was good, wish the chilaquiles were a bit spicier, but after we asked for additional hot salsa they were better. The breakfast sopes were also great, I just like mine a bit crispier, but overall very delicious. Capuchinos were on point
My server Laura was absolutely incredible! She always makes sure my friends and I have a memorable dining experience. In addition to having the sweetest server ever, the food is always fresh and undeniably delicious. The vibrant atmosphere and presentation at San Martin breathe elegance and vitality. I cannot say enough great things about this place! The coffee is arguably one of the best in Dallas, the bakery is phenomenal, and the staff are some of the kindest people you will ever meet!
San Martin is a hidden gem in plain sight. The atmosphere is undeniably elegant and vibrant with all the greenery and natural light. The food matches the vibe—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The bakery is phenomenal (don't leave without trying the pastries!), and the coffee is top-tier. Whether for a casual coffee date or a full brunch, it’s a must-visit in Uptown.
